New Lifeguard Training - 24 hours long, ILTP Special Facility Lifeguard class, required to be a licensed lifeguard
Waterfront Training - 4 hours long, ILTP Waterfront Lifeguard module, required to work beach facilities with specialized equipment and techniques
In-service Training - full time seasonal lifeguards must complete 8 hours of training per month to retain their skills
Renewal Lifeguard Training - 10 hours long, ILTP Special Facilities Renewal class, required each year to retain lifeguard license
BW90 - Lifeguard Emergency TruckAssigned to the Operations Battalion, BW90 provides mobile support to individual facilities. Unit is a 2005 Toyota Tacoma. Equipped with spare rescue board, oxygen unit, first responder supplies, and backboard for resupplying facilities after critical incidents. Open bed and stokes basket provide lift assist for emergency medical services. Also provides transport service to patrol ATVs and rescue PWCs for maintenance.
Assigned to the Administrative Section, BW91 provides mobile support to chief officers. Unit is a 2000 Honda CRV EX 4WD. Equipped with spare rescue board, oxygen unit, first responder supplies, and backboard for resupplying facilities after critical incidents. Also provides transport service with trailer to patrol ATVs and rescue PWCs for maintenance.
BW41 - Lifeguard Rescue Craft Assigned to Standfield Beach Team #1, BW41 provides emergency response on the water. Unit is a 2001 Yamaha Waverunner XL700. Equipped with GPS, tow strap, rescue tubes, and rescue sled. Provides rapid response for open water emergencies and transport of distressed guests. Operates with a crew of two, one acting as craft pilot and the other as rescuer.

Assigned to Olson Beach Team #2, BW42 provides emergency response on the water. Unit is a 2005 Yamaha Waverunner VX110. Equipped with GPS, tow strap, rescue tubes, and rescue sled. Provides rapid response for open water emergencies and transport of distressed guests. Operates with a crew of two, one acting as craft pilot and the other as rescuer.

Assigned to Olson Beach Team #2, BW82 provides mobile support of critical incidents for beach areas. Unit is a 2005 Yamaha Bruin 350cc 4WD Auto. Equipped with first responder supplies, supplemental oxygen, AED, megaphone, binoculars, 2-way radio, emergency lighting, backboard with straps and head restraint. Utility rack or towable sled provide lift assist for emergency medical services. Also provides maintenance staff with beach grooming capabilities when paired with a towable grader.

One unit assigned to each beach facility to provide support for cardiac emergencies. Units are Defibtech Lifeline AED.

One backboard provided to each facility to provide ability to manage in-water spinal injuries. Boards are Coy Jones CJ-6 with built in head immobilizer and velcro straps.
Rescue Boards
Rescue TubesThe most basic piece of rescue equipment is the lifeguard's rescue tube. Each lifeguard is issued a tube to keep with them at all times for immediate response to aquatic emergencies. Rescue tubes are also kept on emergency vehicles. Different tubes are used depending on the depth of the swim areas or the type of lifeguard apparatus it is on.
